MI CASA ES SU CASA
OUR STORY
"My grandfather, Jay Tillman, was a dream driven, adventurous, yet disciplined man. After joining the military as a Naval pilot at a young age, he developed the skills and ability to put his blood, sweat, and tears into building his dreams. With a life long passion for helping others, he spent several years as a school teacher as well as an accountant. In his free time, he was family-oriented and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, photography, and flying his VERY OWN airplane. When it came time to "retire", he began dabbling in real estate and came upon the property now known as Lakeview Log Cabins.
Lakeview Log Cabins was Jay's ultimate dream, and it surely didn't happen over night. With the purchase of the property complete in 1987, I spend my childhood watching my family pitch in to help Grandpa create his vision. It was a lot of hard (never ending) work, but, at the end of the day, the family was together. We'd enjoy a big feast after a long day's work, and, then, my uncle would take my cousins and I tubing, skiing, kneeboarding, etc. It wasn't until 1996 that the first cabin was built. I spent my teenage years seeing my Grandpa's vision become a reality. When the last cabin was built in 2001, it was sadly followed by my grandfather's tragic passing in August 2001. It wasn't until then that I realized he was the definition of the phrase, "If you choose a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life." His end goal was to build a family-oriented, pet friendly environment that not only his family could enjoy, but one that he could invite the world in to enjoy. I am ever so proud to be maintaining his dreams and standards today!!!
With the passing of my grandfather, my parents did everything possible to help keep Grandpa's vision alive and progressing. My mother followed in her Dad's footsteps and had become a school teacher. With her busy schedule, my Dad became the face of Lakeview Log Cabins for the last 10 years of his life before he passed in 2011 (at which point, I took over). To this day, I have yet to meet another person that compares to his motivation to please. The customer is always right. The customer is always first. If it weren't for our customers, we would not be here today! My Dad's work ethic, even in poor health toward the end, is what drives me today to be my very best. A work ethic like his is almost a "lost art" now-a-days. I will spend the rest of my life trying to perfect this "lost art" and hopefully instilling this in my own daughter."
